Mercutio and Tybalt
by Miriam Higgins, based on the characters from Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Before Romeo and Juliet, there was another secret love affair even more forbidden. A pair of star-cross'd lovers fall in love in Verona. Interlacing modern and Shakespearean text and told in a nonlinear way, the play traces the untold tumultuous relationship - love and betrayal, jealousy and lies - between Mercutio and Tybalt.
A modern interpretation of two of Shakespeare's fieriest characters. The play interlaces modern and Shakespearean text and scenes from Romeo and Juliet.

Such a fresh and affecting reinvention of 'Romeo and Juliet' ... So rare to get swept away and surprised by a plot that should be so familiar

It’s as if the playwright had somehow managed to catch Tom Stoppard while sleeping and reached in to the darker side of his imagination to scoop some of it out for herself.

High-energy, smart theatre that engages from the get go and never relinquishes their grip over the audience.
