Neurodiversity Theatre Handbook
Neurodivergent (ND) accessibility is important to Leaning House. It can be difficult for ND people to navigate the UK theatre industry and they often mask their neurodivergence to fit in.
Miriam Higgins is putting together a handbook to give to UK theatre venues, companies, and freelancers on neurodiversity to spread awareness, understanding, and open conversations between the ND and their employers. We think that everyone should be safe and respected at work and their neurodiversity is taken seriously.
The handbook will also be a great resource for ND theatre people especially around access requirements and adjustments in the workplace including in auditions and interviews.
***Call Out***
Miriam would like to speak to theatre practitioners about their experiences, how their neurodiversity affects their work and working relationships, and what access requirements they do or want to ask for.
All information given will be kept in strictest confidence and only used with consent and anonymously.
We are aware many ND people prefer not to write whilst others prefer not to speak so Miriam is open to having these conversations via Zoom or another online platform (one to one or in a group), by phone, email, or by completing a survey. We would love to be able to offer speaking in person over mint tea and cake but that's not really feasible in the current climate!
If you would like to participate or have any questions, please email Miriam: [email protected] (this is different to the Leaning House email address).
